The Montreal Alouettes and running back Walter Fletcher agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Thursday. In addition, the Alouettes signed running back Stevie Scott III according to his agent ISA Sports & Entertainment.
Walter Fletcher is five foot nine and weighs 202 pounds. The 27-year-old from Columbia, Maryland, had 58 carries for 266 yards (4.6 AVG), and 23 catches for 176 yards (7.7 AVG) in seven games for the Alouettes in 2023.
The Alouettes acquired him from the Edmonton Elks in 2022. In 2022, Fletcher had 85 carries for 486 yards (5.7 AVG), one touchdown, 29 catches for 353 yards (12.2 AVG), and one touchdown in 14 games. The Alouettes acquired him from the Edmonton Elks in 2022.
Before Montreal, Fletcher played one season with the Edmonton Elks with 67 carries for 302 yards (4.5 AVG) and 22 catches for 177 yards (8.0 AVG) in 11 games.
Collegiately, Fletcher played three seasons at Edinboro University (2016-18) in Pennsylvania with 632 carries for 3,913 yards, 41 touchdowns, 93 catches for 692 yards, and six touchdowns in 32 games for the Fighting Scots.
He was a 2016 All-PSAC West Second Team, a two-time (2017, 2018) All-PSAC West First Team, a 2017 AP Division II All-American (Second Team), and a 2018 PSAC Western Division Offensive Athlete of the Year.
Then, Fletcher transferred to Ball State in 2019 with 132 carries for 726 yards, five touchdowns, 26 catches for 306 yards, and two touchdowns in 12 games for the Cardinals.
Stevie Scott III is six foot two and weighs 231 pounds. The 23-year-old from Syracuse, New York, signed a letter of intent to play for the San Antonio Brahmas on December 15, 2023, before the XFL merged with the USFL to form the United Football League (UFL).
In 2023, Scott III had 78 carries for 295 yards (3.8 AVG), one touchdown, and seven catches for 41 yards (5.9 AVG) in ten games for the Michigan Panthers. After the season, Scott III signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 playing one preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings with four carries for five yards.
The Panthers drafted Scott III in the 27th round (220th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. In 2022, Scott III had 99 carries for 310 yards (3.1 AVG), three touchdowns, and nine catches for 106 yards (11.8 AVG) in ten games.
Before Michigan, Scott III signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He also had a stint with the Denver Broncos. After his first stint with the Michigan Panthers, Scott III returned to Denver in 2022.
Collegiately, Scott III played three seasons at Indiana (2018-20) with 562 carries for 2,543 yards, 30 touchdowns, 55 catches for 383 yards, and two touchdowns in 31 games for the Hoosiers. He is a two-time Second Team All-Big Ten by the coaches and media in 2019 and 2020.
