Calgary Stampeders and defensive back Branden Dozier agree to a contract extension

The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed defensive back Braden Dozier to a one-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Sunday night. Dozier was scheduled to become a free agent on February 13, 2024.

Branden Dozier is five foot ten and weighs 200 pounds. The 30-year-old from Topeka, Kansas, made 63 tackles, seven tackles on special teams, two sacks, and one touchdown in 17 games for the Stampeders in 2023. The Stampeders signed Dozier as a free agent on February 11, 2020. In three seasons with the Stampeders, Dozier has made 132 tackles, 31 tackles on special teams, three sacks, two interceptions, and one touchdown in 38 games.

Before Calgary, Dozier attended a rookie minicamp with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2016. Next, he signed with the Montreal Alouettes as a free agent in 2017. He played two seasons in Montreal making 150 tackles, 33 tackles on special teams, two sacks, five interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 36 games for the Alouettes.

Then, he signed with the B.C. Lions in 2019 making 70 tackles, seven tackles on special teams, one interception, and one forced fumble in 16 games.

Collegiately, Dozier played two seasons at Butler Community College (2012-13) making 90 tackles (62 solo, 28 assists), four tackles for loss, half a sack, one forced fumble, one interception, and one pass breakup in 22 games for the Grizzlies. He was named First Team All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.

Then, he transferred to Charlotte (2014-15) making 135 tackles (82 solo, 53 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions for 38 yards, one touchdown, 15 pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 22 games for the 49ers.
