The Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed kicker Marc Liegghio and punter Kaare Vedvik to two-year contract extensions through the 2025 season on Monday.

Marc Liegghio is five foot seven and weighs 198 pounds. The 26-year-old from Woodbridge, Ontario, made 41 of 47 field goals (87.2%) with a long of 50 yards and converted 27 of 32 extra points in 17 games for the Ticats in 2023.

Before Hamilton, Liegghio was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the fifth round (39th pick) in the 2021 CFL Draft. He spent two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2021-22) making 37 of 47 field goals (78.7%) with a long of 55 yards, converting 61 of 69 extra points, 183 punts for 8,288, and 115 kickoffs for 7,280 yards in 32 games.

Collegiately, Liegghio played four seasons at the University of Western (2016-19) converting 115 of 137 field goals (84%) with a long of 46 yards, converting 213 extra points, and kicking the ball off 266 times 14,589 yards (54.8 AVG) with three touchbacks, and 13 kicks out of bounds in 44 games for the Mustangs. He is a member of the 2017 Western’s Vanier Cup championship team.

Kaare Vedvik is six foot four and weighs 215 pounds. The 29-year-old from Stavanger, Norway, punted the ball 50 times for 2,208 yards (44.2 AVG) with a long of 62 yards in ten games for the Ticats in 2023. The Ticats acquired Vedvik from the Saskatchewan Roughriders on August 13, 2023, for quarterback Antonio Pipkin.

Before Hamilton, Vedvik signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2018. In addition to the Ravens, he had stints with the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Washington Football Team, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Roughriders drafted Vedvik in the second round (14th pick) in the 2021 CFL Global Draft. He played two seasons in Saskatchewan with 135 punts for 6,048 yards (44.8 AVG), with a long of 78 yards in 22 career games.

Collegiately, Vedvik played five seasons at Marshall University (2013-17) with 129 punts for 5,397 yards (41.8 AVG), with a long of 92 yards in 37 games for the Thundering Herd.

In 2017 against Old Dominion, he made a 92-yard punt which ranked as the seventh-longest in FBS history, one yard shy of Ray Guy’s record of 93 yards. That year, he was named First Team All-C-USA.
