The Toronto Argonauts re-signed defensive lineman Benoit Marion and linebacker Jack Cassar to one-year contract extensions on Tuesday.
Benoit Marion is six foot five and weighs 250 pounds. The 28-year-old from Montreal, Quebec, made one tackle, eight tackles on special teams, one sack, and two forced fumbles in 16 games for the Argonauts in 2023.
The Argonauts drafted Marion in the third round (25th pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. In three seasons, Marion made seven tackles, 11 tackles on special teams, one sack, and two forced fumbles in 31 games. He is a member of the 2022 Toronto Grey Cup championship team.
Collegiately, Marion played four seasons at the University of Montreal (2016-19) with 66 tackles (37 solo, 29 assists), 19.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, one fumble recovery, and two pass breakups in 25 games for the Carabins.
Jack Cassar is six foot four and weighs 240 pounds. The 27-year-old from Mississauga, Ontario, made two tackles, and 14 tackles on special teams in 18 games for the Argonauts in 2023. The Argonauts drafted Cassar in the second round (11th pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. In three seasons, Cassar has made 15 tackles, 42 tackles on special teams, and one forced fumble in 38 games.
Collegiately, Cassar played four seasons at Carleton University (2016-19) with 188 tackles (126 solo, 62 assists), 20 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and ten pass breakups in 31 games for the Ravens.
