Winnipeg Blue Bombers make several moves including re-signing WR Dalton Schoen

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed wide receiver Dalton Schoen to a one-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Tuesday. In addition, the Blue Bombers signed offensive lineman Christopher Ivy and moved offensive lineman Drew Richmond to the retired list.

Dalton Schoen is six foot one and weighs 210 pounds. The 27-year-old from Overland Park, Kansas, made 71 catches for 1,222 yards, 10 touchdowns, and one carry for six yards in 16 games for the Blue Bombers in 2023. Schoen was named a CFL West All-Star and CFL All-Star after the season.

The Blue Bombers signed Schoen as a free agent in 2022. In 2022, Schoen made 70 catches for 1,441 yards, 16 touchdowns, and one carry for three yards in 18 games. He was named a CFL West All-Star and CFL All-Star after the season.

Before Winnipeg, Schoen signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He also had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs twice, and the Washington Football Team.

Collegiately, Schoen played four seasons at Kansas State (2016-19) with 92 catches for 1,569 yards, nine touchdowns, and one carry for four yards in 35 games for the Wildcats. He was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in 2019.

Christopher Ivy is six foot three and weighs 296 pounds. The 26-year-old from Wichita, Kansas, was on the Blue Bombers practice squad in 2023. Before Winnipeg, Ivy played three games for the Tulsa Oilers of the Indoor Football League in 2023.

Collegiately, Ivy played three seasons at Tulsa (2016-18). He played 36 games for the Golden Hurricanes. His first two seasons were on special teams before playing the 2018 season at left tackle in his senior season.

Before Tulsa, Ivy was a two-year letter winner and starter at Wichita Heights High School. Ivy started two years at left tackle, helping Wichita advance to the state quarterfinals twice, all while earning a spot on the Kansas Football Coaches Association (KFCA) All-State team.

In addition, he earned an honorable mention for All-City merits during his junior season and was First-Team All-Conference and Second-Team All-City as a senior.

Drew Richmond is six foot five and weighs 314 pounds. The 28-year-old from Memphis, Tennessee, played one game for the Blue Bombers in 2023.

In 2023, Winnipeg’s offense ranked first in total points (594), average points per game (31.7), offensive touchdowns (62), average net offense per game (414.7), average rushing yards per game (139.1), second in offensive touchdowns (65), average passing yards per game (292.4), and sacks allowed (33).

The Blue Bombers signed Richmond as a free agent on July 17, 2021. He played one game for the Blue Bombers in 2021. Before Winnipeg, Richmond played for the Linemen (TSL) in 2021 winning the Mega Bowl over the Jousters.

Collegiately, Richmond played four seasons at Tennessee (2015-18) playing 28 games for the Volunteers. In the 2016 Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl against Nebraska, Tennessee’s offense paved the way for 521 yards of offense (230 rushing) without giving up any sacks. Then, Richmond transferred to USC in 2019 starting 11 games for the Trojans.
