Hamilton Tiger-Cats make several moves including re-signing DL Mason Bennett

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed defensive lineman Mason Bennett and wide receiver Tyler Ternowski to one-year contract extensions on Wednesday. In addition, the Ticats signed running back Ante Milanovic-Litre.

Ante Milanovic-Litre is six foot and weighs 229 pounds. The 29-year-old from Vancouver, British Columbia, had 17 carries for 55 yards, three touchdowns, and one catch for 10 yards in 16 games for the Ottawa Redblacks in 2023. The Redblacks signed Milanovic-Litre as a free agent on February 16, 2023.

Before Ottawa, Milanovic-Litre was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders drafted Litre in the fourth round (28th pick) in the 2017 CFL Draft. He played four seasons in Calgary (2017-19, 2021) with 94 carries for 351 yards, two touchdowns, 25 catches for 230 yards, and 32 tackles in 55 games for the Stampeders.

After Calgary, Litre signed with Edmonton as a free agent on February 14, 2022. Milanovic-Litre had 54 carries for 241 yards, one touchdown, 16 catches for 89 yards, and nine tackles in 18 games for the Elks in 2022.

Collegiately, Litre played four seasons at Simon Frasier University (2013-16) 216 carries for 789 yards, two touchdowns, 72 catches for 516 yards, one touchdown, two kick returns for 18 yards, and 20 tackles in 38 games for the Red Leafs.

Tyler Ternowski is six foot and weighs 185 pounds. The 25-year-old from Hamilton, Ontario, made six catches for 40 yards, one touchdown, and one kick return for three yards in seven games for the Ticats in 2023. The Ticats drafted Ternowski in the third round (27th pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. In three seasons with Hamilton, Ternowski has made 22 catches for 279 yards, one touchdown, and one kick return for three yards in 31 games.

Collegiately, Ternowski played four seasons at the University of Waterloo (2016-19) with 169 catches for 3,066 yards, 26 touchdowns, eight carries for 38 yards, completing 1 of 2 passes (50%) for 19 yards, one interception, 30 kick returns for 526 yards, and one punt return for 43 yards in 30 games for the Warriors. He was a two-time U Sports First Team All-Canadian.

Mason Bennett is six foot four and weighs 262 pounds. The 26-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, made five tackles, one tackle on special teams, and one sack in 14 games for the Ticats in 2023. The Ticats drafted Bennett in the first round (8th pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. In three seasons, Bennett has 44 tackles, five tackles on special teams, and eight sacks in 43 games.

Collegiately, Bennett played four seasons at North Dakota (2016-19) with 126 tackles (64 solo, 62 assists), 31.5 tackles for loss, 20 sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 42 games for the Fighting Hawks.
