The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are set to sign defensive lineman Dewayne Hendrix on Wednesday according to 3DownNation’s Justin Dunk. The deal cannot become official until February 13th.

Dewayne Hendrix is six foot four and weighs 270 pounds. The 27-year-old from O’Fallon, Illinois, made 23 tackles, six sacks, and one forced fumble in 15 games for the Toronto Argonauts in 2023. The Argonauts signed Hendrix as a free agent on February 12, 2021.

In three seasons in Toronto, Hendrix made 65 tackles, one tackle on special teams, eight sacks, and one forced fumble in 38 games. He is a member of the 2022 Toronto Argonauts Grey Cup championship team.

Before Toronto, Hendrix signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He had stints Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2020, he played for the St. Louis Battlehawks (XFL) with seven tackles (3 solo, 4 assists) and one sack in five games before the league ceased operations due to the pandemic.

Collegiately, Hendrix played one season at Tennessee in 2014 with two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in seven games for the Volunteers. Then, he transferred to Pittsburgh (2016-18) with 50 tackles (30 solo, 20 assists), 10 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 25 games for the Panthers.
