The Montreal Alouettes signed defensive back Linden Stephens on Thursday. Stephens is the son of Mac Stephens, who played linebacker in the NFL, and his grandfather was a five-time All-Star and Basketball Hall of Famer Gus “Honeycomb” Johnson.
Linden Stephens is six foot and weighs 193 pounds. The 28-year-old from Euclid, Ohio, made 22 tackles (15 solo, 7 assists) and three pass breakups in eight games for the Seattle Sea Dragons (XFL) in 2023. The Sea Dragons drafted Stephens in the third round (23rd pick) in Phase 2 of the 2023 XFL Draft.
Before Seattle, Stephens signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He also spent time with the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins, Washington Commanders, Baltimore Ravens, and Pittsburgh Steelers. He played a combined 16 games for the Seahawks and Dolphins with six tackles (6 solo).
Collegiately, Stephens played four seasons at Cincinnati (2014-17) with 140 tackles (92 solo, 48 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions for 68 yards, 26 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 50 games for the Bearcats.
