St. Louis Battlehawks make three moves including signing QB Manny Wilkins

The St. Louis Battlehawks signed quarterback Manny Wilkins and released running back Max Borghi and offensive lineman Kahil McKenzie on Thursday.

Manny Wilkins is six foot two and weighs 193 pounds. The 28-year-old from Novato, California, signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks as a free agent on February 12, 2023, but did not play. Before St. Louis, Wilkins signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2019.

Collegiately, Wilkins played five seasons at Arizona State (2014-18) completing 704 of 1,114 passes (63%) for 8,624 yards, 52 touchdowns, 23 interceptions, 385 carries for 1,035 yards, 20 touchdowns, and punted the ball five times for 181 yards (36.2 AVG) with a long of 43 yards in 41 games for the Sun Devils.

Max Borghi is five foot ten and weighs 197 pounds. The 24-year-old from Arvada, Colorado, had 78 carries for 310 yards, six touchdowns, 21 catches for 139 yards, and five kick returns for 123 yards in eight games for the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) in 2023. The Roughnecks drafted Borghi in the sixth round (41st pick) in Phase 1 of the 2023 XFL Draft.

Before Houston, Borghi signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He would also spend time with the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Collegiately, Borghi played four seasons at Washington State (2018-21) with 369 carries for 2,158 yards, 32 touchdowns, 156 catches for 1,134 yards, nine touchdowns, and two kick returns for 21 yards in 39 games for the Cougars. He was named All-PAC 12 Conference Honorable Mention in 2021.

Kahil McKenzie is six foot three and weighs 345 pounds. The 27-year-old from Walnut Creek, California, was drafted in the seventh round by the Battlehawks in the 2024 UFL Disposal Draft. In 2023, he was with the Vegas Vipers (XFL). The Vipers signed McKenzie as a free agent in 2023.

Before Vegas, McKenzie was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the sixth round (198th pick) of the 2018 NFL Draft. He also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks twice, the Los Angeles Wildcats (XFL), the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Baltimore Ravens. McKenzie has played 12 combined NFL regular season games for the Bengals and Ravens with 12 tackles (5 solo, 7 assists) and one tackle for loss.

Collegiately, McKenzie played three seasons at Tennessee (2015-17) as a defensive lineman with 71 tackles (31 solo, 40 assists), five tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 31 games for the Volunteers.
