Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat announced his retirement on Friday as first reported by the Winnipeg Sun’s Paul Friesen. He is the son of two-time Super Bowl champion Jim Jeffcoat of the Dallas Cowboys.

Jackson Jeffcoat is six foot three and weighs 251 pounds. The 33-year-old from Dallas, Texas, made 21 tackles, eight sacks, and three forced fumbles in 14 games for the Blue Bombers in 2023. The Blue Bombers signed Jeffcoat as a free agent on February 17, 2017.

Jeffcoat played his entire six-year CFL career all in Winnipeg making 147 tackles, three tackles on special teams, 38 sacks, two interceptions, and 13 forced fumbles in 78 games.

He helped the Blue Bombers appear in four Grey Cup championship games, winning two of them in 2019 and 2021 both against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In addition, he was named a CFL West All-Star and CFL All-Star in 2021.

Before Winnipeg, Jeffcoat signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He also had stints with the Washington Redskins and Cleveland Browns. In Washington, Jeffcoat made nine tackles (6 solo, 3 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, and one interception in nine games.

Collegiately, Jeffcoat played four seasons at Texas (2010-13) with 203 tackles (100 solo, 103 assists), 52 tackles for loss, 27.5 sacks, one interception, nine pass breakups, four forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick in 40 games for the Longhorns. In 2013, he was named First-Team All-Big XII, All-American, Big XII Defensive Player of the Year, and the winner of the Ted Hendricks Award for best defensive end in college football.
