The Houston Roughnecks signed offensive lineman Isaac Weaver and released offensive lineman Isaiah Battle on Monday.
Isaac Weaver is six foot six and weighs 310 pounds. The 25-year-old from Marietta, Georgia, signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2023. He played two preseason games for the Chargers before he was released on August 29th. Weaver had signed with the Birmingham Stallions on September 21, 2023.
Collegiately, Weaver played five seasons at Old Dominion (2017-21) playing left tackle and left guard in 47 games for the Monarchs. In 2021, Weaver was part of an offensive line that helped the Monarchs rank fifth in C-USA with 158.3 rush yards per game and helped ODU set the single-game record for rushing yards with 358 in the win over Hampton.
He was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team, a two-time Conference USA Honorable Mention, and Fourth Team All-Conference USA by Phil Steele.
Isaiah Battle is six foot seven and weighs 310 pounds. The 31-year-old from Brooklyn, New York, played five games, of which four were starts at tackle for the New Jersey Generals in 2023. The Pittsburgh Maulers drafted Battle in the sixth round (50th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. He did not play for the Maulers in 2022. He was taken in the 2024 UFL Disposal Draft.
Before New Jersey, Battle was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Supplemental Draft. He never played a game for the Rams. He later had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, and Carolina Panthers. In 2020, he played two games for the Seattle Dragons (XFL). Collegiately, Battle played three seasons at Clemson (2012-14), playing 27 games, of which 15 were starts for the Tigers.
