The Winnipeg Blue Bombers moved linebacker Jesse Briggs to the retired list on Monday.

Jesse Briggs is six foot one and weighs 211 pounds. The 33-year-old from Kelowna, British Columbia, made four tackles and 12 tackles on special teams in 18 games for the Blue Bombers in 2023. The Blue Bombers drafted Briggs in the second round (17th pick) of the 2014 CFL Draft.

Briggs played nine seasons in Winnipeg with 51 tackles, 76 tackles on special teams, four fumble recoveries for 83 yards, one touchdown, and four carries for 26 yards in 134 games. He helped the Blue Bombers win two Grey Cup championships in 2019 and 2021.

Collegiately, Briggs started at Vanier College in 2010. Then, he transferred to McGill University (2012-13) with 84 tackles (53 solo, 31 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception for seven yards, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 18 games for the Redmen.
