The Ottawa Redblacks have moved defensive back Jake Springer to the retired list on Tuesday.
Jake Springer is six foot one and weighs 190 pounds. The 25-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, signed with the Redblacks as a free agent on February 2, 2023, but did not play in the preseason.
Before Ottawa, Springer attended rookie minicamp with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022. Collegiately, Spring played three seasons at Navy (2017-19) with 105 tackles (58 solo, 47 assists), 16 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two interceptions for 24 yards, six pass breakups, three forced fumbles, five kick returns for 78 yards, and 13 punt returns for 91 yards in 30 games for the Midshipmen. He was named Second-Team All-ACC honors in 2019.
Then, Springer transferred to Ole Miss in 2021 with 58 tackles (31 solo, 27 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in nine games for the Rebels.
