The Birmingham Stallions signed defensive back A.J. Thomas and released defensive back Eli Walker on Wednesday.
A.J. Thomas is six foot two and weighs 214 pounds. The 24-year-old from Detroit, Michigan, made 14 tackles (13 solo, 1 assist), one interception, and one pass breakup in three preseason games for the Chicago Bears in 2023.
The Bears signed Thomas as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2022. He played six NFL regular season games in two seasons making 4 tackles (3 solo, 1 assist).
Collegiately, Thomas played five seasons at Western Michigan (2017-21) with 221 tackles (150 solo, 71 assists), 16 tackles for loss, three sacks, two interceptions for 62 yards, one touchdown, 16 pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries 49 games for the Broncos.
Eli Walker is six foot two and weighs 202 pounds. The 26-year-old from Long Beach, California, made 37 tackles (25 solo, 12 assists), one sack, one interception, two fumble recoveries, two touchdowns, and three pass breakups in ten games for the Pittsburgh Maulers in 2023.
In addition, he made seven tackles (6 solo, 1 assist) in two playoff games. The Stallions drafted Walker in the 2024 UFL Disposal Draft.
The Maulers signed Walker as a free agent on April 22, 2022. He made 15 tackles (5 solo, 10 assists) in seven games in 2022. Before Pittsburgh, Walker signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He would later play for the Blues (TSL) that same year.
Collegiately, Walker played two seasons at Cerritos College (2015-16) with 117 tackles (67 solo, 50 assists), four tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, four interceptions for 65 yards, and six pass breakups in 20 games for the Falcons.
Then, he transferred to Kansas State (2017-18) with 89 tackles (69 solo, 20 assists), five tackles for loss, and one sack in 23 games for the Wildcats.
