Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign WR Brendan O’Leary Orange and DB Michael Jacquet

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed wide receiver Brendan O’Leary Orange and defensive back Michael Jacquet on Wednesday.

Brendan O’Leary Orange is six foot four and weighs 226 pounds. The 27-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, made six catches for 111 yards, and one touchdown in 18 games for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2023.

The Blue Bombers drafted O’Leary Orange in the fourth round (37th pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. In two seasons with Winnipeg, O’Leary Orange made 25 catches for 344 yards, two touchdowns, and two tackles on special teams in 29 games. He is a member of the 2021 Blue Bombers Grey Cup championship team.

Collegiately, O’Leary Orange played four seasons at Nevada (2016-19) with 61 catches for 941 yards, eight touchdowns, and two tackles (2 solo) in 35 games for the Wolf Pack.

Michael Jacquet is six foot two and weighs 201 pounds. The 27-year-old from Beaumont, Texas, made six tackles (3 solo, 3 assists) and one pass breakup in three preseason games for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023. The Chargers signed Jacquet as a free agent on August 23, 2022, and was placed on the practice squad.

Before Los Angeles, Jacquet signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He played one season in Philadelphia making 18 tackles (12 solo, 6 assists), one quarterback hit, one sack, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble in seven games. Next, Jacquet signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021 playing one regular season game recording no stats. Jacquet would later have a stint with the New York Giants.

Collegiately, Jacquet played four seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette (2016-19) with 85 tackles (65 solo, 20 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, four interceptions for five yards, 16 pass breakups, one forced fumble, 46 catches for 494 yards, and three touchdowns in 46 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns. He was named Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference in 2019.
