The Albany Firebirds (AFL) signed quarterback Will Arndt on Monday.
Will Arndt is six foot five and weighs 215 pounds. The 30-year-old from Sandy Hook, Connecticut, was a quarterback coach for the Ottawa Redblacks in 2022 and an offensive assistant for the Edmonton Elks in 2021.
As a player, Arndt played for the Fort McMurray Monarchs of the Alberta Football League in 2016 helping them win the National Championship over the G.T.A. All-Stars.
Next, the Ottawa Redblacks signed Arndt as a free agent on September 13, 2017. Arndt was a backup quarterback to the Redblacks in 2018 and 2019, completing 103 of 165 passes (62.4%) for 940 yards, three touchdowns, six interceptions, and 15 carries for 45 yards in 18 games, of which he made three starts.
He was released by the Redblacks on January 23, 2020, and signed with the B.C. Lions on January 30, 2020, but the season was canceled due to the pandemic. He was released by the Lions in 2021.
Collegiately, Arndt played five seasons at Western Connecticut State University (2011-15) completing 634 of 1,153 passes (55%) for 7,921 yards, 77 touchdowns, 44 interceptions, 322 carries for 1,692 yards, and 17 touchdowns in 32 games for the Colonials. He was a two-time All-MASCAC Academic Team.
