Memphis Showboats sign RB Titus Swen, releases RB Kennedy Brooks

The Memphis Showboats signed running back Titus Swen and released running back Kennedy Brooks on Saturday.

Titus Swen is five foot ten and weighs 204 pounds. The 24-year-old from Fort Worth, Texas, was drafted by the Seattle Sea Dragons (XFL) in the 2023 XFL Rookie Draft and had signed a letter of intent to play in Seattle. However, the Sea Dragons were not included in the XFL and USFL merger which formed the United Football League (UFL). Before Seattle, Swen signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2023, but was released three days later.

Collegiately, Swen played four seasons at Wyoming (2019-22) with 406 carries for 2,161 yards, 16 touchdowns, 22 catches for 178 yards, and 10 kick returns for 186 yards in 33 games for the Cowboys. He was named Second Team All-Mountain West Conference by Pro Football Focus in 2021. In 2022, Swen had 207 carries for 1,039 yards, eight touchdowns, and 14 catches for 108 yards in 12 games.

Kennedy Brooks is five foot one and weighs 213 pounds. The 25-year-old from Mansfield, Texas, signed with the Philadelphia Stars (USFL) on October 31, 2023, but the Stars were not included in the USFL and XFL merger which formed the United Football League. Brooks was drafted by the Showboats in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft.

Before Philadelphia, Brooks played three preseason games for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023 with 13 carries for 45 yards, and three catches for 20 yards. Brooks signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2022. He spent the 2022 season on the Eagles practice squad.

Collegiately, Brooks played three seasons at Oklahoma (2018-19, 2021) with 472 carries for 3,320 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 29 catches for 209 yards in 38 games for the Sooners. In 2018, he was named USA Today Freshman All-American, a Second Team All-Big 12 in 2019, and an Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award semifinalist in 2021.
