Arrow McLaren announced on Tuesday that Callum Ilott will drive the No. 6 Chevrolet at this weekend’s Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Callum Ilott is filling in as David Malukas continues his recovery from surgery on his left wrist following a mountain bike accident.

“I took a step away from IndyCar to go and do the World Endurance Championship — it’s a professional series ride. To be honest, I just want to do what I enjoy. I enjoy IndyCar a lot,” said Ilott. “(I’ll) just have to see where that takes me. I’m not forcing anything because it just doesn’t feel right. I’m kind of going with the flow.”

The 25-year-old from Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, finished 16th in the point standings. His highest finish in the 2023 season was fifth twice at St. Petersburg and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. He led five laps throughout the season.

In the 2022 season, Callum Ilott finished 20th in the points standings with two top-ten finishes at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course (8th) and Portland International Raceway (9th). His highest qualifying position is seventh, twice in Indianapolis Road Course and Toronto.

Before IndyCar, Callum Ilott started his racing career in the Toyota Racing Series. Then, moved to the FIA Formula 3 European Championship racing three seasons with Carlin, Van Amersfoort Racing, and Prema Powerteam. Ilott won five races and in his final season finished fifth in the point standings.

Next, he moved to the GP3 Series in 2018 for ART Grand Prix winning two races and seven podium finishes. He finished third in the championship standings. Then, Ilott went to the FIA Formula 2 Championship for three seasons racing for Trident, Sauber Junior Team by Charouz, and UNI-Virtuosi. When he raced for UNI-Virtuosi, Ilott won three races, six poles, and eight podium finishes to finish second in the championship standings.

In 2021, he made his way to IndyCar with Juncos Hollinger Racing competing in three races. His highest finish was 22nd place at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
