The Calgary Stampeders signed tight end turned offensive lineman Hunter Thedford on Friday.

Hunter Thedford is six foot six and weighs 260 pounds. The 26-year-old from Comanche, Texas, played in one preseason game for the Cleveland Browns in 2023 against the New York Jets. The Browns signed Thedford as a free agent on June 5, 2023.

Before Cleveland, Thedford signed a futures contract with the Detroit Lions in 2021. Next, the Pittsburgh Maulers drafted Thedford in the eighth round (342nd pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. Thedford played tight end making 13 catches for 124 yards, and one touchdown in nine games for the Maulers. After Pittsburgh, Thedford had stints with the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos.

Collegiately, Thedford played three seasons at Southern Methodist University (2016-18) making three catches for 36 yards, and five tackles (3 solo, 2 assists) in 23 games for the Mustangs. Thedford made the game-winning two-point conversion against Navy in 2018. Then, Thedford transferred to Utah in 2019 making two catches for 12 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 14 games for the Utes.
