The Memphis Showboats released quarterback Cole Kelley on Tuesday according to the UFL Transaction page.
Cole Kelley is six foot seven and weighs 250 pounds. The 26-year-old from Lafayette, Louisiana, completed 146 of 248 passes (58.9%) for 1,534 yards, 7 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, 48 carries for 119 yards, and two touchdowns in nine games for the Memphis Showboats (USFL) in 2023. The Showboats signed Kelley as a free agent on January 28, 2023. Before Memphis, Kelley signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2022.
Collegiately, Kelley played two seasons at Arkansas (2017-18) completing 122 of 218 passes (56%) for 1,493 yards, 13 touchdowns, 9 interceptions, 81 carries for 147 yards, 5 touchdowns, and one tackle (1 assist) in 18 games for the Razorbacks.
Then, Kelley transferred to Southeastern Louisiana University (2019-21) completing 685 of 950 passes (72%) for 8,602 yards, 72 touchdowns, 16 interceptions, 326 carries for 737 yards, 33 touchdowns, two catches for 14 yards, and two touchdowns in 33 games for the Lions.
Kelley was a two-time First Team All-American, Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Second Team All-SLC, and the winner of the Walter Payton Award in 2020. In addition, Kelley was named the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl MVP.
