The Memphis Showboats are set to sign quarterback Josh Love on Tuesday according to Pro Football Newsroom’s James Larsen.
Josh Love is six foot two and weighs 205 pounds. The 27-year-old from Mission Viejo, California, completed 143 of 236 passes (60.6%) for 1,556 yards, 13 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and 26 carries for 50 yards in nine games for the Michigan Panthers (USFL) in 2023 helping the Panthers to the North Divisional playoffs against the Pittsburgh Maulers.
The Panthers acquired Love off waivers from the Pittsburgh Maulers on May 10, 2022. Love completed 31 of 59 passes (52.5%) for 351 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and five carries for 21 yards in four games. In Pittsburgh, Love completed 40 of 73 passes (54.8%) for 440 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and two carries for 11 yards in three games.
Before Michigan, Love signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He would also spend time with the Carolina Panthers practice squad in 2021.
Collegiately, Love played four seasons at San Jose State University (2016-19) completing 578 of 1,000 passes (57.8%) for 7,206 yards, 43 touchdowns, 29 interceptions, 88 carries for -282 yards, and three touchdowns in 41 games, of which 26 were starts for the Spartans. He was named First Team All-Mountain West Conference and Mountain West Conference Player of the Year in 2019.
Love finished third in career passing yards (7,206), fourth in pass completions (578), seventh in total offense (6,924), and ninth in passing efficiency (126.72).
