Birmingham Stallions claims WR Isaiah Zuber, moves LB Chris Orr to the retired list

The Birmingham Stallions claimed wide receiver Isaiah Zuber off waivers from the Houston Roughnecks and placed linebacker Chris Orr on the retired list on Wednesday according to the UFL Transactions page

Isaiah Zuber is six foot and weighs 190 pounds. The 26-year-old from Stone Mountain, Georgia, made 14 catches for 103 yards, and 18 kick returns for 442 yards in seven games for the Houston Gamblers in 2023. After the season, he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders and played two preseason games with one catch for 18 yards against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Gamblers drafted Zuber in the 13th round (103rd pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. In 2022, Zuber made 22 catches for 322 yards, five touchdowns, 18 kick returns for 425 yards, and two punt returns for eight yards in nine games for the Gamblers.

Before Houston, Zuber signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He would also spend time with the San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, and the Las Vegas Raiders twice.

Collegiately, Zuber played four seasons at Kansas State (2015-18) with 127 catches for 1,321 yards, 11 touchdowns, three carries for 52 yards, 21 kick returns for 324 yards, ten punt returns for 178 yards, and one touchdown in 38 games for the Wildcats. He was named Second Team All-Big 12 Freshman Team by Athlon in 2016.

Then, Zuber transferred to Mississippi State in 2019 with 14 catches for 211 yards, two touchdowns, three carries for four yards, 12 kick returns for 189 yards, and one punt return for two yards in 13 games for the Bulldogs.

Chris Orr is six foot and weighs 227 pounds. The 26-year-old from DeSoto, Texas, had 81 tackles (43 solo, 38 assists), seven tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and two pass breakups in nine games for the Generals in 2023. He was named to the All-USFL Team. The Generals drafted Orr in the 21st round (173rd pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft.

In his first season, Orr had 65 tackles (35 solo, 30 assists), three tackles for loss, one interception, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup in nine games. Before New Jersey, Orr signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent and played three games in 2020.

Collegiately, Orr played five seasons at Wisconsin (2015-19) with 187 tackles (100 solo, 87 assists), 20 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, two interceptions for 78 yards, one touchdown, ten pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in 50 games for the Badgers. He was named Second Team All-Big 10 in 2019.
