The Houston Roughnecks re-signed defensive end Isaiah Chambers and claimed defensive end Carlo Kemp off waivers from the Birmingham Stallions on Wednesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Isaiah Chambers is six foot five and weighs 251 pounds. The 25-year-old from Houston, Texas, made 30 tackles (22 solo, 8 assists), 12 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in ten games for the Houston Gamblers in 2023. The Gamblers signed Chambers as a free agent on May 31, 2022, but did not play for the Gamblers.
Collegiately, Chambers started at TCU (2016-17) but never played a game for the Horned Frogs. Next, he transferred to Houston (2018-19) with 23 tackles (13 solo, 10 assists), 12 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in 15 games for the Cougars.
Then, Chambers transferred to McNeese State (2020-21) with 91 tackles (56 solo, 35 assists), 29.5 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, five pass breakups, and five forced fumbles in 18 games for the Cowboys. He was named First Team All-Southland Conference and Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2021.
Carlo Kemp is six foot three and weighs 281 pounds. The 26-year-old from Boulder, Colorado, signed with the Birmingham Stallions as a free agent on December 23, 2023.
Before Birmingham, Kemp signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He would also spend time with the Denver Broncos.
Kemp was drafted by the Pittsburgh Maulers in the second round (10th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. He made 51 tackles (26 solo, 25 assists), five tackles for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one pass breakup in ten games.
After the season, Kemp signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022 and was placed on the practice squad. In 2023, Kemp made four tackles (2 solo, 2 assist) and half a sack in three preseason games for the Los Angeles Chargers.
Collegiately, Kemp played five seasons at Michigan (2016-20) with 81 tackles (31 solo, 50 assists), ten tackles for loss, 4.5 tackles for loss, and one fumble recovery in 45 games for the Wolverines. He was voted Team Captain in 2019 and 2020.
