The Michigan Panthers are set to re-sign quarterback Brian Lewerke on Tuesday according to Pro Football Newsroom’s James Larsen. This comes after Davis Creek was moved to the retired list on Monday.

Brian Lewerke is six foot three and weighs 212 pounds. The 27-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona, spent time with the Seattle Sea Dragons (XFL) and Michigan Panthers (USFL) in 2023 but did not play a game for either team. Lewerke was released by the Panthers on March 10, 2024.

Before Michigan, Lewerke signed as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots in 2020. He also spent time with the New York Giants on the practice squad for two seasons.

Collegiately, Lewerke played four seasons at Michigan State University (2016-19) completing 721 of 1,249 passes (58%) for 8,293 yards, 47 touchdowns, 32 interceptions, 346 carries for 1,255 yards, 10 touchdowns, four catches for 32 yards, one touchdown, and two tackles (2 solo) in 41 games, of which 38 were starts for the Spartans.

Lewerke is the only player in Michigan State history to win two bowl MVPs (2017 Holiday, 2019 Pinstripe). He also ranked first in school history in total offense with 9,548 yards (8,293 passing, 1,255 rushing), and ranked third in career starts (38) and wins (22).
