The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed defensive back DaMarcus Fields on Monday.

DaMarcus Fields is six foot and weighs 200 pounds. The 26-year-old from Taylor, Texas, made 6 tackles (5 solo, 1 assist) in three preseason games for the Washington Commanders in 2023. The Commanders signed Fields as a free agent on October 26, 2022, and spent the season on the practice squad.

Before Washington, Fields signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. He played two regular season games while spending time on the practice squad before he was released on October 4, 2022.

Collegiately, Fields played five seasons at Texas Tech (2017-21) with 223 tackles (182 solo, 41 assists), 13.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, four interceptions for 155 yards, one touchdown, 49 pass breakups, four forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in 55 games for the Red Raiders.

In his senior season, Fields made 50 tackles (41 solo, 9 assists), four tackles for loss, 11 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 12 games. He was named Second Team All-Big 12 in 2021 and was a three-time All-Big 12 Honorable Mention by the coaches (2018-20). Fields finished his collegiate career ranked second in the nation for passes defended (49). It marked the most for a Texas Tech player over his career dating back to 2000.
