Stuttgart Surge signs defensive lineman Chris Mulumba

The Stuttgart Surge signed defensive lineman Chris Mulumba for the 2024 season on Monday.

Chris Mulumba is six foot four and weighs 285 pounds. The 31-year-old from Helsinki, Finland, appeared in one game for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2023 recording no stats. The Ticats drafted Mulumba in the second round (11th pick) in the 2021 CFL Global Draft.

Mulumba played three seasons in Hamilton with two tackles in five games. Before coming to America, Mulumba played youth football for the Helsinki Roosters in Finland helping the team win the Maple Bowl in 2012.

Collegiately, Mulumba played one season at Chabot Community College in 2014 with 35 tackles (21 solo, 14 assists), four tackles for loss, and a half sack in ten games for the Gladiators.

Next, he transferred to Diablo Valley Community College in 2015 with 63 tackles (33 solo, 30 assists), nine tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in ten games for the Vikings. He was named First Team All-Bay 6 League Conference. Then, he transferred to Colorado (2017-18) with 57 tackles (29 solo, 28 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in 24 games for the Buffaloes.
