The Calgary Stampeders signed defensive lineman Clarence Hicks on Tuesday.
Clarence Hicks is six foot two and weighs 230 pounds. The 25-year-old from Pensacola, Florida, made 21 tackles (10 solo, 11 assists), three tackles for loss, two sacks, six quarterback hits, and two pass breakups in ten games for the Seattle Sea Dragons (XFL) in 2023.
The Sea Dragons drafted Hicks in the fifth round (36th pick) in the 2023 XFL Draft. Before Seattle, Hicks signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2022.
Collegiately, Hicks played two seasons at Hutchinson Community College (2017-18) with 42 tackles (28 solo, 14 assists), 23 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two pass breakups in 12 games for the Blue Dragons. He was named a Second Team All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference in 2018.
Then, Hicks transferred to the University of Texas-San Antonio (2019-21) with 108 tackles (70 solo, 38 assists), 31.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, two interceptions, five pass breakups, and three forced fumbles in 34 games for the Roadrunners. He was named First Team All-C-USA in 2021.
