The Edmonton Elks signed defensive lineman Emeke Egbule on Tuesday.
Emeke Egbule is six foot two and weighs 245 pounds. The 27-year-old from Topeka, Kansas, signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks (UFL) on December 6, 2023, but was released on March 22, 2024. In 2023, Egbule played two games for the Edmonton Elks with one tackle.
Before Edmonton, the Los Angeles Chargers drafted Egbule in the sixth round (200th pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He made 13 tackles (9 solo, 4 assists) and two quarterback hits in 32 games for the Chargers.
After Los Angeles, Egbule signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022 and spent most of the season on the practice squad. Then, Egbule was drafted by the St. Louis Battlehawks (XFL) in the second round (11th pick) of the 2022 XFL Draft. He never played a game for the Battlehawks.
Collegiately, Egbule played four seasons at Houston (2015-18) with 164 tackles (98 solo, 66 assists), 13 tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions, eight pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries in 52 games for the Cougars.
