Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive back Javien Elliott announced his retirement on Thursday according to 3DownNation’s Justin Dunk. Elliott posted a message on his Instagram account confirming the news.

Javien Elliott is five foot ten and weighs 185 pounds. The 30-year-old from Panama City, Florida, made 32 tackles and three interceptions in 14 games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2023. The Ticats signed Elliott as a free agent on February 11, 2023.

Before Hamilton, Elliott went undrafted in 2016 and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Elliott played three seasons in Tampa Bay with 39 tackles (35 solo, 4 assists), four tackles for loss, one quarterback hit, one interception for 50 yards, and two pass breakups in 36 games, of which seven were starts.

Then, Elliott signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2019. He made 38 tackles (24 solo, 14 assists), one tackle for loss, two quarterback hits, one interception, and two pass breakups in 16 games, of which three were starts. After Carolina, Elliott signed with the Calgary Stampeders on September 20, 2021. Elliott played two seasons in Calgary with 12 tackles and one fumble recovery in five games.

Collegiately, Elliott played one season at Tallahassee Community College in 2012 before walking on at Florida State (2013-15). He spent two seasons on Florida State’s scout team before playing in 2015 with 37 tackles (28 solo, 8 assists), four tackles for loss, one sack, one interception for four yards, three pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in ten games for the Seminoles.
