Tirol Raiders sign defensive back Devin Taylor

The Tirol Raiders signed defensive back Devin Taylor for the 2024 season on Friday.

Devin Taylor is six foot one and weighs 200 pounds. The 26-year-old from Lansing, Michigan, made eight tackles (4 solo, 4 assists), and two pass breakups in five games for the Philadelphia Stars (USFL) in 2023. The Stars signed Taylor as a free agent on November 11, 2022.

Before Philadelphia, Taylor signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2022, but was released on July 14, 2022.

Collegiately, Taylor played three seasons at Illinois State (2017-19) with 118 tackles (80 solo, 38 assists), five tackles for loss, one sack, nine interceptions for 50 yards, 40 pass breakups, and one block in 35 games for the Redbirds. He was named Second Team All-MVFC in 2018, First Team All-MVFC in 2019, and Third Team All-American by Phil Steele in 2019.

Next, Taylor transferred to Virginia Tech (2020) with 55 tackles (36 solo, 19 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions for 12 yards, and ten pass breakups in ten games, of which eight of them were starts for the Hokies.

Then, Taylor transferred to Bowling Green in 2021 with 43 tackles (22 solo, 21 assists), two interceptions for 34 yards, ten pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one block in 12 games. He was named Third Team All-MAC and First Team All-MAC by Pro Football Focus after the season.
