The Saskatchewan Roughriders and wide receiver Samuel Emilus have agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Monday.

Samuel Emilus is six foot one and weighs 200 pounds. The 26-year-old from Montreal, Quebec, made 70 catches for 1,097 yards, and six touchdowns in 18 games for the Roughriders in 2023. The Roughriders drafted Emilus in the first round (7th pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft. In 2022, Emilus made 10 catches for 165 yards in 15 games.

Collegiately, Emilus played one season at Vanier College in 2017 making 100 catches for 1,921 yards, and 21 touchdowns. Next, he transferred to the University of Massachusetts (2018-20) making 59 catches for 653 yards, seven touchdowns, two carries for -3 yards, six kick returns for 114 yards, four punt returns for 57 yards, and three tackles (3 solo) in 22 games for the Minutemen. He was named First Team-All Independent by Phil Steele as a punt returner in 2020.

Then, Emilus played his final collegiate season at Louisiana Tech in 2021 making 17 catches for 257 yards, three touchdowns, and three kick returns for 66 yards in eight games for the Bulldogs.
