The San Antonio Brahams placed linebacker Nate Wieland on injured reserve on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Nate Wieland is six foot one and weighs 223 pounds. The 25-year-old from Iowa City, Iowa, made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in the Brahmas 27-12 win over the D.C. Defenders on Sunday. The Brahmas drafted Wieland in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft.
Before San Antonio, Wieland signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent on August 3, 2022. He played in three preseason games with two tackles (2 solo) before he was released on August 30, 2022. Then, Wieland signed with the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) in 2023. He played two games with four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist).
Collegiately, Wieland spent two seasons at Iowa (2017-18) but did not play a game for the Hawkeyes. Next, Wieland transferred to Iowa Western Community College in 2019 with eight tackles (6 solo, 2 assists) and two tackles for loss in six games for the Reivers.
Then, Wieland transferred to Grand View in 2021 making 78 tackles (47 solo, 31 assists), five tackles for loss, one sack, one interception for seven yards, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 10 games for the Vikings.
