Michigan Panthers sign wide receiver Samson Nacua

The Michigan Panthers signed wide receiver Samson Nacua and placed wide receiver Devin Ross on the injured reserve list on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Samson Nacua is six foot four and weighs 195 pounds. The 26-year-old from Las Vegas, Nevada, signed with the Michigan Panthers on October 31, 2023, but was released on March 23, 2024.

Before Michigan, Nacua signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. Then, Nacua signed with the Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL) on November 9, 2022. He was targeted two times in two games for the Pittsburgh Maulers in 2023.

Collegiately, Nacua played four seasons at Utah (2017-20) with 82 catches for 1,015 yards, 11 touchdowns, one carry for three yards, and one punt return for 18 yards in 45 games for the Utes. Then, Nacua transferred to BYU in 2021 with 21 catches for 329 yards, three touchdowns, seven carries for 29 yards, and one touchdown in 13 games for the Cougars. 

Devin Ross is five foot nine and weighs 196 pounds. The 28-year-old from Los Angeles, California, made three catches for 58 yards in two games for the Michigan Panthers in 2024. Before Michigan, Ross signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He caught six passes for 80 yards in three preseason games for the Titans in 2018. In 2021, Ross signed with the New England Patriots.

The Panthers drafted Ross in the eighth round (338th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. He caught 28 passes for 309 yards, one touchdown, and one carry for eight yards in nine games. In 2023, Ross played three games for the Panthers targeted one time before an injury sidelined him for the rest of the season. He also spent time on the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad.

Collegiately, Ross played five seasons at Colorado (2013-17) with 143 catches for 1,643 yards, nine touchdowns, seven carries for 34 yards, and five kick returns for 107 yards in 49 games for the Buffaloes.
