The San Antonio Brahmas were dealt a major blow on Monday as starting quarterback Chase Garbers is out for the rest of the season with a wrist injury according to both Mike Mitchell and Anthony Miller of Sports Athlon Sports.
Chase Garbers is six foot two and weighs 215 pounds. The 24-year-old from Newport Beach, California, completed 75 of 106 passes (70.8%) for 586 yards, six touchdowns, one interception, eight carries for 31 yards, and one touchdown in three games for the Brahmas in 2024. The Brahmas signed Garbers as a free agent on January 19, 2024.
Before San Antonio, Garbers signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2022, spending his rookie season on the practice squad before being promoted to the active roster with two games left but did not appear in any of them.
In 2023, he played two preseason games completing 8 of 11 passes (72.7%) for 57 yards, one touchdown, and one carry for three yards before he was released on August 27, 2023.
Collegiately, Garbers played four seasons at California (2018-21) completing 598 of 958 passes (62%) for 6,580 yards, 50 touchdowns, 24 interceptions, 331 carries for 1,174 yards, 11 touchdowns, punting the ball one time for 40 yards, one touchback, one tackle (1 solo), and one forced fumble in 36 games for the Golden Bears.
Garbers ranked among the school’s all-time leaders in total offense (7756, 4th), touchdown passes (T6th), passer efficiency (7th), passing yards (7th), 300-plus yard passing games (4, T7th), and 250-yard passing games (9, T9th).
After California, he played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl completing 10 of 13 passes (77%) for 119 yards, one touchdown, two carries for 25 yards, and two touchdowns.
