The Houston Roughnecks placed defensive tackle Carlo Kemp on the retired list on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Carlo Kemp is six foot three and weighs 281 pounds. The 26-year-old from Boulder, Colorado, made eight tackles (3 solo, 5 assists), and one tackle for loss in two games with the Houston Roughnecks in 2024. The Roughnecks acquired Kemp off waivers from the Birmingham Stallions on March 13, 2024.
Before Houston, Kemp signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He would also spend time with the Denver Broncos.
Kemp was drafted by the Pittsburgh Maulers in the second round (10th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. He made 51 tackles (26 solo, 25 assists), five tackles for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one pass breakup in ten games.
After the season, Kemp signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022 and was placed on the practice squad. In 2023, Kemp made four tackles (2 solo, 2 assist) and half a sack in three preseason games for the Los Angeles Chargers. Then, Kemp signed with the Birmingham Stallions as a free agent on December 23, 2023.
Collegiately, Kemp played five seasons at Michigan (2016-20) with 81 tackles (31 solo, 50 assists), ten tackles for loss, 4.5 tackles for loss, and one fumble recovery in 45 games for the Wolverines. He was voted Team Captain in 2019 and 2020.
