The Calgary Stampeders re-signed linebacker Lino Schröter on Thursday.
Lino Schröter is six foot two and weighs 225 pounds. The 24-year-old from Troisdorf, Deutschland, made one tackle in one preseason game for the Stampeders against the Edmonton Elks in 2023. After suffering a knee injury, the Stampeders released him on June 3, 2023. Calgary drafted Schröter in the second round (15th pick) of the 2023 CFL Global Draft.
Lino Schröter played high school football at Herington, Kansas, before playing two seasons for the Cologne Crocodiles of the German Football League. In 2021, he made 78 tackles (49 solo, 29 assists), six tackles for loss, two sacks, one pass breakup, two quarterback hits, and one blocked kick in 11 games. He was named Cologne’s Special Teams Player of the Year.
In 2022, he was named to the GFL All-Star Team after making 59 tackles (43 solo, 16 assists), 11 tackles for loss, five sacks, six pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 11 games.
