The Montreal Alouettes have released wide receivers Keshunn Abram and Quartney Davis, defensive lineman Marcus Valdez, and defensive back Raheem Wilson on Thursday according to the CFL Transactions page. Their profiles have been removed from the team’s roster page.
Keshunn Abram is six foot two and weighs 193 pounds. The 25-year-old from Southaven, Mississippi, made three catches for 35 yards in two games helping the Alouettes win the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Alouettes signed Abram as a free agent on January 31, 2023.
Before Montreal, signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2022, playing one preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles where he was targeted on time with no stats.
Collegiately, Abram played two seasons at Northwest Mississippi Community College (2017-18) with 23 catches for 371 yards, one touchdown, one kick return for nine yards, and four tackles in 21 games for the Rangers.
In 2017, he helped the Rangers reach the MACJC Championship game and Graphic Edge Bowl after making two catches for 35 yards in 11 games in his freshmen year. He was named MACJC All-Academic Team selection in 2018, and the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team in 2017.
Then, Abram transferred to Kent State (2019-21) making 57 catches for 835 yards, five touchdowns, and one tackle in 26 games for the Golden Flashes. In his final season, Abram made 47 catches for 699 yards, three touchdowns, and one tackle in 14 games.
In high school, Abram played wide receiver, safety, cornerback, and kick returner at DeSoto Central. He caught 42 passes for 693 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions. He was named All-Region 1-6A.
Quartney Davis is six foot one and weighs 200 pounds. The 26-year-old from Houston, Texas, made 11 catches on 18 targets for 158 yards in five games for the Montreal Alouettes in 2023 helping them win the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Alouettes signed Davis as a free agent on February 17, 2023.
Before Montreal, Davis signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2020. After Minnesota, Davis signed with the Indianapolis Colts on January 11, 2021. He played one preseason game for the Colts in 2022 against the Carolina Panthers making two catches for 29 yards but was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury and was released on August 18, 2022.
Collegiately, Davis played three seasons at Texas A&M (2017-19) with 99 catches for 1,201 yards, 11 touchdowns, eight carries for 45 yards, one punt return for 20 yards, and two tackles (2 assists) in 32 games for the Aggies. In 2019, Davis made 54 catches for 616 yards, four touchdowns, five carries for 32 yards, and one punt return for 20 yards in 11 games.
Marcus Valdez is six foot and weighs 256 pounds. The 25-year-old from Perth Amboy, New Jersey, appeared in one game for the Montreal Alouettes in 2023 but did not record any stats, and spent the rest of the season on the practice squad when the Alouettes won the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Alouettes signed Valdez as a free agent on July 24, 2023.
Collegiately, Valdez played five seasons at Boston College (2018-22) with 133 tackles (70 solo, 63 assists), 29 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, two pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries in 57 games for the Eagles.
In 2021, he was named an ACC Honorable Mention and served as the Team Captain. In his final season, Valdez made 30 tackles (16 solo, 14 assists), 8.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 12 games.
Raheem Wilson is five foot eleven and weighs 185 pounds. The 30-year-old from Desoto, Texas, made three tackles, and one tackle on special teams in four games for the Montreal Alouettes in 2023 helping them win the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Alouettes signed Wilson as a free agent on August 2, 2022.
In 2022, Wilson made 20 tackles in seven games for the Alouettes, and 19 tackles in six games for the Calgary Stampeders in 2022. Montreal signed Wilson on August 15, 2022.
Before Montreal, Wilson signed with the Stampeders on April 17, 2019, playing three seasons with 107 tackles, two tackles on special teams, three interceptions, and one forced fumble in 38 games.
Collegiately, Wilson played five seasons at Southeastern Oklahoma State (2012-16) with 181 tackles (122 solo, 59 assists), 10 tackles for loss, 18 interceptions for 268 yards, three touchdowns, 65 pass breakups, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, and three blocked kicks in 45 games for the Savage Storm.
In 2016, Wilson made 47 tackles (35 solo, 12 assists), four tackles for loss, five interceptions for 45 yards, 24 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked punt in 11 games on his way to being named NFCA Second Team All-American, Second Team All-America selection by NFCA and D2CCA, and first-team All-Super Region 3 in both NFCA and D2CCA.
