The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship visited the streets of Long Beach, California, on Saturday afternoon for the third race of the season in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. The competing classes in this race were GTP and GTD.
In GTP, the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac Racing of Pipo Derani and Jack Aitken were on the pole for the third consecutive race including the 12th career pole for Pipo Derani. In GTD, the pole was won by the No. 89 Vasser Sullivan Lexus drivers Parker Thompson and Ben Barnicoat.
Five cars did not finish the race including the No. 40 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti of Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz, and the No. 25 BMW M Team RLL of Nick Yelloly and Connor De Phillippi.
After an hour and 40 minutes, the winners of the race were the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Cadillac Racing of Sebastien Bourdais and Renger Van Der Zande of GTP, and the winners of GTD were the No. 89 Vasser Sullivan Lexus drivers Parker Thompson and Ben Barnicoat.
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship returns to action next month at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the Motul Course De Monterey Powered by Hyundai N on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at 3 pm on Peacock and NBC.
