Lehigh Valley Phantoms end the season on a winning note

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms (32-31-9) concluded the 2023-24 AHL regular season on Sunday afternoon at the PPL Center against the Charlotte Checkers (39-26-7) in their eighth meeting of the season.

At 17:39 of the first period, Tanner Laczynski (17) scored a power play putting the Phantoms up 1-0 with assists from Cooper Marody (37), and Victor Mete (15). The Phantoms led 1-0 after one period of play. At 9:52 of the second period, Zayde Wisdom (2) extended Lehigh Valley’s lead to 2-0 with assists by Cooper Marody (37), and Victor Mete (15).

Next, Cooper Marody (19) scored Lehigh Valley’s second power play goal making it 3-0 with assists from Bobby Brink (6), and Tanner Laczynski (27). At 19:42, Lehigh Valley’s Elliot Desnoyers (6) scored a goal for a 4-0 lead with assists by Ronnie Attard (17), and Adam Ginning (13).

In the third period, Charlotte got on the board when Wilmer Skoog (22) scored a power play goal cutting the Phantoms lead down to 4-1 with assists by Justin Sourdif (26), and Mitchell Vande Sompel (8). The Phantoms defeated the Checkers by the final score of 4-1. They win the season series 5-3.

Lehigh Valley finished the afternoon with 23 shots on goal, went 2 for 5 on the power play, and goaltender Felix Sandstrom made 23 of 24 saves.
