Michigan Panthers sign quarterback Bryce Perkins

The Michigan Panthers signed quarterback Bryce Perkins and placed quarterback E.J. Perry on the injured reserve list on Wednesday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Bryce Perkins is six foot three and weighs 214 pounds. The 27-year-old from Queen Creek, Arizona, signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2020 spending two and half seasons on the practice squad while the Rams won the Super Bowl in 2021.

In 2022, Perkins played five games for the Rams completing 19 of 34 passes (55.9%) for 161 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, and one carry for 19 yards.

Collegiately, Perkins started at Arizona State (2015-16) but redshirted his Freshman year and missed the 2016 season with a broken neck. Next, He transferred to Arizona Western Community College in 2017 completing 114 of 180 passes (63.3%) for 1,311 yards, 7 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, 69 carries for 353 yards, and four touchdowns in 10 games for the Matadors.

Then, Perkins transferred to Virginia (2018-19) completing 545 of 845 passes (64.5%) for 6,218 yards, 47 touchdowns, 21 interceptions, 439 carries for 2,235 yards, and 20 touchdowns in 27 games for the Cavaliers. In 2019, Perkins set the UVA single-season passing record with 3,538 yards.

E.J. Perry is six foot two and weighs 210 pounds. The 25-year-old from Andover, Massachusetts, completed 55 of 89 passes (61.8%) for 664 yards, two touchdowns, three interceptions, 23 carries for 151 yards, and four touchdowns in four games for the Panthers in 2024. The Panthers re-signed Perry as a free agent on January 21, 2024.

The Panthers originally signed Perry as a free agent on May 30, 2023. In 2023, Perry completed 12 of 23 passes (52.2%) for 121 yards, ten carries for 48 yards, and one touchdown in one game for the Michigan Panthers.

In the North Division Finals, Perry completed 23 of 38 passes (60.5%) for 370 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, seven carries for 22 yards, and one touchdown against the Pittsburgh Maulers.

After the season, Perry signed with the Houston Texans. He played one preseason game completing 7 of 12 passes (58.3%) for 58 yards, and two carries for -3 yards.

Before Michigan, Perry signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2022. The Houston Texans would later claim him off waivers before he was eventually released on May 11, 2023.

Collegiately, Perry played two seasons at Boston College (2017-18) completing 27 of 39 passes (69%) for 277 yards, two touchdowns, 20 carries for 70 yards, and one touchdown in 20 games for the Eagles.

Then, Perry transferred to Brown (2019, 2021) completing 546 of 862 passes (63%) for 5,981 yards, 45 touchdowns, 27 interceptions, 253 carries for 1,132 yards, 15 touchdowns, two catches for 66 yards, and one touchdown in 20 games for the Browns.

He was named a two-time First Team All-Ivy League, winner of the George H. “Bulger” Lowe Award, and led the Bears to win the Bushnell Cup in 2021.
