The Philadelphia Eagles drafted defensive back Quinyon Mitchell in the first round (22nd pick) in the 2024 NFL Draft from Detroit, Michigan, on Thursday night.
Quinyon Mitchell is six foot and weighs 196 pounds. The 22-year-old from Williston, Florida, ran a 4.33 in the 40-yard dash, 1.51 in the 10-yard split, a 38 vertical jump, a broad jump of 10’ 2”, and 20 bench presses in the 2024 NFL Combine.
Collegiately, Mitchell played four seasons at Toledo (2020-23) with 122 tackles (92 solo, 30 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, one sack, six interceptions for 54 yards, two touchdowns, 52 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick in 46 games for the Rockets.
In 2022, Mitchell made 41 tackles (27 solo, 14 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions for 51 yards, and two touchdowns in 14 games helping the Rockets win the MAC Championship over the Ohio Bobcats 17-7 and later went on to win the Boca Raton Bowl over Liberty 21-19 in which Mitchell made two tackles (2 assists).
In 2023, Mitchell made 40 tackles (31 solo, 9 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception for three yards, 19 pass breakups, and one blocked kick in 13 games. Mitchell did not allow a touchdown in 402 coverages. He was named a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, being Toledo’s first player to earn the honor.
Mitchell is Toledo’s all-time leader in career pass breakups (52), and the first Rocket to be named in all five major All-America teams in his career. He is a two-time First Team All-MAC Conference.
