The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced that offensive lineman Logan Bandy was moved to the retired list while releasing defensive lineman Brayden Thomas and linebacker Tommy Bringi on Thursday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Logan Bandy is six foot five and weighs 285 pounds. The 24-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, was drafted by the Roughriders in the fifth round (38th pick) in the 2021 CFL Draft. He played 29 games in two seasons for the Roughriders.
In 2023, the Roughriders finished eighth in average points per game (20.3), sixth in offensive touchdowns (34), fifth in average net offense (346.4), eighth in average rushing yards (84.4), third in average passing yards (280.4), and seventh in sacks allowed (54).
Collegiately, Bandy played four seasons at the University of Calgary (2017-19, 2021) playing left tackle in 38 games for the Dinos with one tackle (1 assist). He was a three-time Canada West All-Star and earned the U Sports All-Canadian in 2019.
Brayden Thomas is six foot three and weighs 255 yards. The 26-year-old from Bismarck, North Dakota, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on September 12, 2023, and was placed on the practice squad. Before Saskatchewan, Thomas signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He played two preseason games with six tackles and one pass breakup.
Collegiately, Thomas played one season at the University of Mary in 2016 with 25 tackles (12 solo, 13 assists), one tackle for loss, and two fumble recoveries in 11 games for the Marauders.
Then, he transferred to Minnesota State (2018-19) with 63 tackles (38 solo, 25 assists), 21 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 22 games for the Mavericks. He was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team in 2019.
After Minnesota State, Thomas transferred to North Dakota State (2020-21) with 55 tackles (37 solo, 18 assists), 18 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one blocked kick in 22 games for the Bisons. He was named First Team All-MVFC and won an FCS National Championship in 2021.
Tommy Bringi is five foot eleven and weighs 229 pounds. The 24-year-old from London, Ontario, had re-signed with the Roughriders on November 25, 2023, after the Roughriders moved Bringi to the retired list before coming back. In 2022, Bringi made one tackle, and six tackles on special teams in 12 games for Saskatchewan. The Roughriders drafted Bringi in the fourth round (36th pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft.
Collegiately, Bringi played three seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University (2018-19, 2021) with 118 tackles (91 solo, 56 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, three interceptions for 25 yards, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 23 games. He was named OUA Men’s Football First Team All-Star in 2019, and a two-time Most Valuable Player.
