The Philadelphia Eagles drafted linebacker Jalyx Hunt in the third round (94th pick) of the 2024 NFL Draft. The Eagles traded down several times before settling on picking Hunt. He is the first player in HCU’s history to be drafted into the NFL.
Jalyx Hunt is six foot four and weighs 248 pounds. The 23-year-old from DeBary, Florida, ran a 4.64 in the 40-yard dash, 1.6 in the 10-yard split, a vertical jump of 37.5”, a broad jump of 10’ 8”, and 19 bench presses.
In 2023, Hunt made 46 tackles (19 solo, 27 assists), 9 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one interception for 16 yards, one touchdown, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick in 10 games of the Houston Christian Huskies.
Hunt was named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year, All-American, and First Team All-Southland Conference in 2023. He was invited to play in the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Hunt began his collegiate career as a safety at Cornell University (2019-21) with 29 tackles (16 solo, 13 assists), one pass breakup, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick in 17 games for the Big Red.
Then, he transferred to Houston Christian University (2022-23) switching to the linebacker position. In 2022, he made 87 tackles (39 solo, 48 assists), 11.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 11 games on his way to being named Second Team All-Southland Conference.
Hunt played two seasons at Houston Christian University with 133 tackles (58 solo, 75 assists), 20.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, one interception for 16 yards, one touchdown, five pass breakups, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick in 21 games for the Huskies.
