The NTT IndyCar Series concluded the weekend on Sunday afternoon at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Alabama, for the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix. Team Penske started the race on the front row with Scott McLaughlin on the pole and Will Power started second.

The race was filled with lots of aggressive driving. Rinus VeeKay, Pato O’Ward twice, and Agustin Canapino were issued drive-through penalties for avoidable contact. There were four cautions in this race. On the sixth lap, Pato O’Ward and Pietro Fittipaldi got together at Turn 13. On lap 44, Alexander Rossi’s team did not tighten the wheel nut on his left rear and dislodged at Turn 3 for the second caution.

Sting Ray Robb’s steering wheel broke leading him to crash at Turn 1 for the third caution, and Christian Rasmussen spun around at Turn 13 with five laps to go bringing out the fourth and final caution of the afternoon.

In other action, Scott Dixon went to the inside to pass Graham Rahal but Dixon’s left front tire touched the right rear tire of Rahal causing him to spin around but no caution came out. On lap 33, Josef Newgarden went off the track after making contact with Marcus Armstrong at Turn 15, and a mannequin fell off near the track and lost its hand.

Both Scott McLaughlin and Will Power used a three-pit-stop strategy. McLaughlin led 58 laps to win his first race of the season, while Power led one lap and finished in second place. For McLaughlin, he gained 20 positions in the standings after being disqualified in the season opener at St. Petersburg. Santino Ferrucci led 14 laps finishing in seventh place, Alex Palou led 12 laps finishing in fifth place, Linus Lundqvist led four laps finishing in third place, and Felix Rosenqvist led one lap finishing in fourth place.
