The Arlington Renegades signed offensive lineman Marquis Lucas and released defensive back Brandon Rusnak on Wednesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Marquis Lucas is six foot four and weighs 318 pounds. The 31-year-old from Miami, Florida, signed with the Arlington Renegades as a free agent on March 4, 2024, but was released on March 21, 2024.
In 2023, Lucas played ten games for the New Orleans Breakers (USFL). Lucas was part of an offensive line that helped quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson lead the league in average passing yards (243.3), and running back Wes Hillis led the lead in rushing yards (679).
The Breakers drafted Lucas in the seventh round (54th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. He played ten games for New Orleans in 2022 helping them reach the South Divisional semifinal against the Birmingham Stallions.
Before New Orleans, Lucas signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He also had stints with the Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2019, he played five games for the Orlando Apollos, and played ten games for the Tampa Bay Vipers in 2020.
In 2021, Lucas played nine games for the Massachusetts Pirates (IFL) with two tackles (2 solo). The Pirates averaged 44.29 points per game, 64.5 rushing yards per game, 133.1 passing yards per game, and 88 touchdowns as they won the 2021 IFL Championship over the Arizona Rattlers. Collegiately, Lucas played four seasons at West Virginia (2012-15) playing 36 games, of which 30 were starts for the Mountaineers.
Brandon Rusnak is five foot eleven and weighs 198 pounds. The 28-year-old from Wilmington, Delaware, made one tackle (1 solo) in one game for the Arlington Renegades in 2024. The Renegades signed Rusnak as a free agent on March 7, 2023. In 2023, Rusnak made 7 tackles (5 solo, 2 assists) in four games helping the Renegades win the XFL Championship.
Before Arlington, Rusnak signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2019. He played three seasons in Jacksonville making 30 tackles (20 solo, 10 assists) in 28 games, of which he started one.
Collegiately, Rusnak played four seasons at Michigan (2015-18) making 80 tackles (43 solo, 37 assists), four tackles for loss, three interceptions for 127 yards, two touchdowns, and 15 pass breakups in 50 games for the Wolverines.
