Lehigh Valley Phantoms lose Game 1 in Hershey

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms (0-1) visited the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, to start the second round of the 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs against the defending champions Hershey Bears in a best-of-five series.

At 3:29 of the first period, Hershey took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Hendrix Lapierre (1) with assists from Chase Priskie (1) and Ethen Frank (1). The Phantoms had eight shots on goal but trailed 1-0.

At 17:17 of the second period, Hershey extended their lead to 2-0 by Henrik Rybinski (1), with assists from Matt Strome (1) and Bogdan Trineyev (1). The Phantoms had 10 shots on goal but trailed 2-0.

Lehigh Valley pulled goalie Cal Peterson at 15:28 when Tanner Laczynski (3) scored cutting the Bears lead down to 2-1. Bobby Brink (2) and Ronnie Attard (1) assisted in Laczynski’s goal. The Phantoms could not tie the game and lost to the Bears by the final score of 2-1. Lehigh Valley trails the series 1-0.

The Phantoms finished the night with 31 shots on goal, committed no penalties, and Cal Peterson made 26 of 28 saves.
