On Tuesday, the Toronto Argonauts drafted punter Jeremy Edwards in the first round (7th pick) and defensive lineman Denzel Daxon in the second round (16th pick) in the 2024 CFL Global Draft.
Jeremy Edwards is six foot five and weighs 220 pounds. The 24-year-old from Bendigo, Australia, played two seasons at Eastern Kentucky University (2022-23) punting the ball 84 times for 3,301 yards (39.3 AVG) with a long of 61 yards, four touchbacks, 27 fair catches, 29 from inside the 20-yard line, and nine from 50-plus yards in 23 games for the Colonels.
Denzel Daxon is six foot two and weighs 320 pounds. A native of Nassau, Bahamas, Daxon played two seasons at Ohio (2021-22) with 11 tackles (5 solo, 6 assists), two tackles for loss, and one sack in 24 games for the Bobcats. Then, he transferred to Illinois in 2023 making 27 tackles (9 solo, 18 assists), and half a tackle for loss for 12 games for the Fighting Illini.
