On Tuesday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers drafted linebacker Fabian Weitz in the first round (8th pick) and defensive back Lucky Ogbevoen in the second round (17th pick) in the 2024 CFL Global Draft.
Fabian Weitz is six foot and weighs 221 pounds. The 25-year-old from Cologne, Germany, played for the Cologne Centurions (ELF) in 2023 making 20 tackles (12 solo, 8 assists), two tackles for loss, and one fumble recovery in ten games. Collegiately, Weitz played five seasons at Buffalo (2018-22) making 17 tackles (9 solo, 8 assists) in 22 games for the Bulls.
Lucky Ogbevoen is six foot three and weighs 225 pounds. The 23-year-old from Austria, played three seasons in the European League of Football for the Stuttgart Surge and Tirol Raiders making 175 tackles (86 solo, 89 assists), 18.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one interception, seven pass breakups, one blocked kick, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries in 24 games.
He was named an ELF All-Star in 2023 making 87 tackles (40 solo, 47 assists), 8 tackles for loss, two sacks, five pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in 11 games.
