The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed defensive backs Patrick Rogers and Demetries Ford on Wednesday.
Patrick Rogers is five foot eleven and weighs 190 pounds. The 24-year-old from Tacoma, Washington, played six seasons at Central Washington University (2018-23) with 175 tackles (110 solo, 65 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, seven interceptions for 185 yards, two touchdowns, 36 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two forced fumbles, two blocked kicks, and four punt returns for 24 yards in 46 games for the Wildcats. He was named First Team All-GNAC in 2021.
In 2023, Rogers made 63 tackles (37 solo, 26 assists), two tackles for loss, eight pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick in 12 games. He was named First Team AFCA All-American, Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-American Honorable Mention, and Second Team All-LSC.
Demetries Ford is five foot nine and weighs 180 pounds. The 23-year-old from South Miami, Florida, played one season at Youngstown State in 2019 with 24 tackles (18 solo, 6 assists), half a tackle for loss, one interception for 25 yards, and six pass breakups in 12 games for the Penguins.
Next, Ford transferred to Austin Peay University (2021-22) with 61 tackles (38 solo, 23 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, three interceptions for 49 yards, 23 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 22 games for the Governors. In 2022, he was named Third Team All-American by both Phil Steele and Associated Press, and All-ASUN Conference.
Then, Ford transferred to Arizona State in 2023 with 31 tackles (25 solo, 6 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 12 games for the Sun Devils.
