The B.C. Lions signed long snapper Kyle Nelson on Thursday.

Kyle Nelson is six foot two and weighs 240 pounds. The 37-year-old from Norman, Oklahoma, signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on July 27, 2011. Nelson also had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, San Diego Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, and Los Angeles Rams.

Nelson played 107 NFL games, of which 89 were with the San Francisco 49ers, one for the Indianapolis Colts, six for the San Diego Chargers, and 11 for the Washington Redskins making 17 tackles (13 solo, 4 assists), one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. In 2019, he played in Super Bowl LVI as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

Nelson is the grandson of Roger Nelson, who was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the 14th round (164th pick) in the 1954 NFL Draft but played 13 seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos winning the Grey Cup twice in 1954 and 1956. He would be inducted into the Eskimos Wall of Honor in 1987.

His dad, Mark Nelson, coached the Edmonton Eskimos, Toronto Argonauts, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and San Antonio Texans before heading to the Ottawa Redblacks under Rick Campbell when they won the Grey Cup in 2016. Mark Nelson is a three-time Grey Cup champion coach.

Collegiately, Nelson played four seasons at New Mexico State (2007-10) making 66 catches for 559 yards, two touchdowns, and 18 tackles (14 solo, 4 assists) in 50 games for the Aggies.
